Shaving soap or shave cream can still be used to further soften the skin to obtain a smoother shave. Shave cream with skin moisturizer or skin softener is another option. Using a shaving brush can help exfoliate the skin and prepare it for shaving.

A shaving soap may already come with a type of exfoliant and will help to remove dead cells and other impurities which may cause acne, especially in younger men. You will also went to use a sharp blade if using a hand-held razor. A blade is only good for about five shaves before it becomes dull.
